What is a Home Growth Group?

Relationships are central to being a Christian. When we commit our lives to honoring Christ we immediately become part of his family. Scripture describes God's people as a body, where every member is essential to the well-being of the whole. We need each other. However, as churches have become larger, maintaining essential relationships has become increasingly difficult. As a result, smaller groups become important. In every church there are naturally occurring relationships. But there are also intentional small groups that are formed in many congregations. These intentional groups are what we call Home Growth Groups. In our groups we seek to encourage each other to be faithful to the Lord until he returns.

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
(Hebrews 10:23-25)

This exhortation is at the heart of our Home Growth Group ministry. It is our desire that each member of a group seek to faithfully live this out in context of their intentional community. Our goal for our Home Growth Groups is to honor God through relationships, character transformation and mission by:

  • Applying the Bible to our lives
  • Developing meaningful relationships
  • Reaching and serving our church and community
  • Developing leaders
  • Providing a place of encouragement as we seek to life faithfully in this world

Our Growth Groups are formed with the desire that they reflect the overall body of Christ as much as possible. We form our groups with the following values in mind:

  • Diversity in age, spiritual maturity, ethnicity, etc.
  • Building on existing relationships
  • Geographical location
