The Sanctuary is a part of a worldwide movement known as The Christian and Missionary Alliance, which began in 1887, lead by Albert B. Simpson. Its focus was and is worldwide missions. Every three minutes someone comes to faith in Jesus Christ through the ministries of the C&MA.
The Alliance seeks to evangelize among people groups who have not yet received an understandable presentation of the Gospel and among whom there is no indigenous church effectively evangelizing those peoples. We also desire to plant churches among peoples responsive to the Gospel, regardless of their previous exposure to Christianity, with a view to equipping those churches to evangelize unreached peoples and to plant missionary churches among them.
880 workers currently serve worldwide with the United States C&MA. This number is made up of: ~ 663 personnel GCF-funded (Great Commission Fund). This includes Canadian or foreign personnel who are funded by the U.S. ~ 65 non-Great Commission Fund funded personnel (including special assignment, workers on leave of absence, or partners). ~ 102 other specialized workers who are fully or partially funded by the Great Commission Fund. ~ 58 countries have personnel who serve with International Missions residing within their borders. From AIDS awareness training in Africa to Marriage Encounters in South America to relief efforts around the world to boldly entering those countries emerging from the grip of communism and terrorism, the Great Commission Fund thrusts forward the work of the C&MA.
